The conference takes place at the "Veranstaltungszentrum" (convention center) of the Ruhr University Bochum, which is situated on its main campus.

Getting there:

By plane: 

The closest major international airport is Dusseldorf International Airport (DUS) which is well connected to Bochum via the Deutsche Bahn. A train from the airport to Bochum typically takes around 50 minutes. Here are some detailed instructions to help you get from DUS to BO. <--- Ticket price updated 08.06.23

The Dortmund Airport is closer to Bochum, however getting to down town Bochum by public transport also takes around 50 minutes.

Flying into Frankfurt is also a possibility. However, you should be aware that the Deutsche Bahn is not reliable between Frankfurt and Bochum. While a good train connection can bring you to Bochum in 2.5 hours, due to delays it is more likely to take you 3-6 hours. We do not recommend flying to Frankfurt.

By train:

Once you are in Germany the most convenient way to get to Bochum is by train. Bochum Central Station (Bochum Hbf) is right down town and well connected to the university via the U35 subway line (ca. 15 min. ride). See "By Subway".

By subway: 

From the central train station hop on the U35 in the direction of "Ruhr-Universität" or "Hustadt" and disembark at "Ruhr-Universität". The convention center is a short walk away (ca. 700m).

Alight from the subway, go up the stairs, turn right and then continue walking straight passing the library and the audimax (large circular building).

Accessibility:

Although our university is accessible, the "stair free" pathways are sometimes well hidden. If you need help navigating to the RUB conference center please get in touch with us ahead of time so we can send someone to the subway station to show you the way.
